Hi again, my name is Kaitlyn McNab. I am a freelance writer, editor, and multimedia storyteller based in New York. SZA's 20 Something is currently the soundtrack to my life.
Like the Sagittarius sun that I am, I have a high-spirited stream of consciousness and a knack for cultural spelunking — which makes my pen just as curious and diverse. I thrive in the realms of books, beauty, and pop culture and have written on these beats for brands and publications like Teen Vogue, Allure, Youth To The People, Bustle, and EBONY. My poetry and prose have appeared, or are forthcoming in, Fat Cat Magazine, Pidgeonholes, and Electric Literature. You can find my clips, poems, and other writings in the Work tab.
As a reader, you can find me on Bookstagram @kaitlyngetslit, where I review books and nerd out about all things bookish in the best corner of the Internet.
I learned the alchemy of interdisciplinary thinking at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where I graduated with the self-designed major How to Tell Stories While Black. At Gallatin, I investigated how Blackness changes and affects various creative mediums. This line of questioning informs all of my work: it is a lifelong pursuit.
Currently, I'm working on my debut novel, a YA fantasy set in NYC, and revising my first original screenplay, a coming-of-age rom-com set in LA.
When I’m not writing, I’m most likely avoiding writing by making playlists and eating Chinese food, binge-watching Gilmore Girls for the 10th time, or playing the Sims. You can best reach me via email by clicking the Contact tab or by tweeting me a funny GIF @kaitmcnab.
